48 Core Self-Supporting Aerial Composite Overhead Ground Wire
Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground wire (OPGW) is a type of
cable that is used in overhead power lines. Such cable combines the
functions of grounding and communications.
An OPGW cable contains a tubular structure with one or more optical
fibers in it, surrounded by layers of steel and aluminum wire.It is
mainly used for communication lines of 110kV, 220kV, 500kV, 750kV
and new overhead high-voltage transmission systems. It also can be
used to replace the existing ground wire of the old overhead
high-voltage transmission system.
The OPGW cable is run between the tops of high-voltage electricity
pylons. The conductive part of the cable serves to bond adjacent
towers to earth ground, and shields the high-voltage conductors
from lightning strikes. Special structures can be customized
according to user needs.
Applications
1.Adapt to replace the aged ground wire and new structure of high
voltage ground wire.
2.lighting protection and conduct the short circuit current
3.OPGW can replace conventional ground wire of old power line with
increasing fiber communication function.
